Medoc: Traditional techniques with a natural effect

Created by Michele De Lucchi and Philippe Nigro, the Medoc flooring design has an original and unmistakable trapezoidal shape. The unique structure of this design creates tapered shaped wooden floorboards, allowing them to slot in side by side, producing an ingenious pattern.

This design ties back to contemporary planks which were not straightened to avoid wasting wood. The imprecise sawing technique generates a 3D effect and the natural oil-based treatments used on the French Oak allow for the various shades of the wood to show through. The special treatments used also create a distressed look on the wood, mimicking the effects that would be seen if the wood was exposed to the elements.
